My boyfriend and I have gotten food from these guys a couple times -once for take-out and once dining in for the buffet- and both experiences were phenomenal! The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food is delicious. Our favorites are the chicken momo, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and palek paneer. The buffet is also great. The staff will cook more of what you want when they're running low and will even deliver it right to your table. We can't recommend Kathmandu enough!

Authentic food of the region, decent prices, and the owner is so friendly and active in running the restaurant. I recommend both the lamb and goat. So tender, and not flamingly hot unless you ask for it to be hot. Prepare for interesting parking, but it's worth it. Absolutely worth it!!!

We go here as much as we can even if we’re out of the way. The vegetable chowmein is spicy and delicious. Samosas are crispy and so good. I like the chicken paneer too because it’s so full of flavor. The dudes that run this place are super friendly and don’t keep their hungry customers waiting too long. We will see you again soon.

This place is unreal. Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. We tried four different dishes as well as three kinds of bread. It was more food than was needed for four people but we really wanted to try everything. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Kathmandu has great food, and they're moving to a new location in Windsor Heights soon which should upgrade the ambience. Try the Gobi Manchuri - breaded cauliflower with a spicy sauce. It's a great appetizer! Everything we've tried has been spot-on and delicious. Would highly recommend!

This place rules. Tried methi lamb, chicken dumplings, vegetable samosas, and garlic naan. Everything was very fresh and extremely delicious, they brought some extra chopped chilies from their garden, meat was super tender and flavorful... and the garlic naan was perfection. The chutneys were excellent as well. Waiter was awesome, and the dining area was very clean. This will be a regular spot for me.

We order from Kathmandu more than any other places in Des Moines. Nothing has ever been disappointing and I feel like it's a good value, especially considering the amount of naan they give with meals. Some favorites include chicken vindaloo, paneer, chicken curry, chana saag, and basically all of their appetizers. This is a great option for vegetarians also.

The most flavorful meal in Des Moines.. I recently got my Kathmandu on again and wow what a meal! I was warned about getting the dish extra spicy but I didn't listen and wowzers my taste buds are glad I didn't listen Aloo Gobi cooked to perfection with fresh veggies and perfect spice unlike any meal I have ever tried!
